World Environment Day - Wednesday 5th June 2013 - Think Outside the City Block

This World Environment Day, The Wilderness Society is holding a special event in the CBD. This event will celebrate Victoria’s majestic native forests and raise awareness about the urgent need to protect them from destructive and unsustainable logging.

They are hoping to make this the biggest Melbourne World Environment Day yet and they can’t do it without your help. Last World Environment Day hundreds of people came in support to get the message out and they are doing it again with hopefully an even bigger turn out! See the video from last year’s action HERE.

Please come join the Wilderness Society on the day and stand together in solidarity. If you could send the event details around to your networks it would be so much appreciated. We need this to be massive for our voice to be heard!

Event details:

World Environment Day: Think Outside the City Block

When:  meet at 12.45pm for action at 1pm, Wednesday 5th June 2013
Where:  Melbourne CBD- Corner of Bourke and Elizabeth Streets (MAP)
On the 5th June hundreds of people will join hands around one of Melbourne CBD’s 2 hectare city blocks. This will be a representation of the threat to our forests and also the strength of the growing community standing up to this threat.

Every day, 8 city blocks of Victoria’s forests are logged, mostly to make cheap products like Reflex paper.

Come and join hands with hundreds of Victorians on the United Nations’ 13th World Environment Day and show your support for protecting Victoria’s precious native forests!

Show your love for our forests and come wearing a green top on the day.
